Nagornaya Gallery is the first state gallery in Moscow open outside of the city center. Initially, the gallery showcased mostly academic art (social realism, critical realism, ‘severe style,’ ‘left’ MOSKH), but as the years passed, the focus shifted towards digital technologies, multimedia, installations, photography. The gallery's strategy is to preserve traditions interacting with the newest trends in contemporary art. The gallery hosts open workshops of established and emerging artists, film screenings, festivals, performances, poetry readings and book signing events, meetings with cultural figures, public discussions, lectures, events, and interactive educational programmes. Once a month it hosts Art Bazaar for those who love and value art of other countries and nations, as well as design products, designers’ jewelry, gifts and handmade souvenirs.
