The first Voronezh contemporary art gallery Kh.L.A.M. Gallery opened on January 5, 2008.
The first Voronezh gallery of contemporary art Kh.L.A.M. Gallery opened to the public on January 5, 2008. The objective of the gallery is promoting contemporary art in Voronezh, contributing to establishing centers, galleries and festivals of contemporary art, and integrating regional art into All-Russian context.
The gallery activities contributed to the launch of first festival of contemporary art ‘Chernozem,’ organised in March 2010, and the Platonov Arts Festival, launched at the same time, in spring 2010.
An important result of gallery activities consisted of expanding the presence of modern artists in the city: in February 2009 in Kh.L.A.M. gallery artistic community decided to open Voronezh center of contemporary art (VCCA). Therefore, Voronezh received another contemporary art venue, provided more opportunities for the access to education, popularization of the forms of artistic language of the newest time and shaping cultural needs of diverse age groups.
